What should you do if you have an accident?

In the event of an accident, bring your motor vehicle to a complete halt and call the police. Remain on the scene of the accident until the police arrives. If you or a passenger are injured and require immediate medical attention, call an ambulance immediately.

Don't forget:

  • write down the name, address and insurance information for the other party in the accident.
  • take pictures at the accident scene if you are able to do so with a camera phone or other device
  • when the police arrives, write down the name and number of the officer(s).
  • NEVER admit liability or agree to fix the other person's car even if you think the accident may have been your fault. Exchange your insurance information and refer the other party to us.
  • If your vehicle is disabled, contact a towing company and have it towed to your home. If you choose to tow it to a third-party parking lot, be sure to ask about storage fees which are charged by tow comanies and lots.
  • Report the acccident to your insurance company at the first possible opportunity. Follow up your phone call with a visit to the office with your documents and driver's license.
  • should you receive anysubsequent legal documents or other correspondence from the other party or any representative of the other party, be sure to forward those documents to us immediately.
